Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Creating Space and Avoiding Problems Through Extraction

Wisdom teeth develop later than other teeth, and there is not always enough room for them in the jaw. In many cases, wisdom teeth remain fully or partially trapped in the bone and only partially erupt through the gums. This can lead to inflammation, pain, damage to neighboring teeth, or shifts in the dental arch. In our oral surgery practice in Berlin-Friedenau, we remove wisdom teeth safely and gently. Whether a simple extraction or surgical exposure with osteotomy is necessary depends on the position of the tooth and individual anatomical conditions. Using modern imaging and gentle techniques, we ensure that even complex positions are treated precisely and with minimal tissue trauma.

Wisdom Tooth Removal Before Orthodontic Treatment

For planned orthodontic therapies, it may be necessary to remove wisdom teeth early to create space or prevent unfavorable tooth movements. In such cases, removal usually takes place in adolescence or young adulthood – following thorough diagnostics and in close coordination with the referring orthodontist. Partially retained teeth, i.e., teeth that have not yet fully erupted, can be specifically prepared for orthodontic treatment through surgical tooth exposure.
