Gum Recession Treatment
Targeted Reconstruction of Receded Gums
Over time, the gums can recede. In this process, also known as recession, the tooth neck is usually exposed, making the tooth sensitive to stimuli. The causes of gingival recession are varied: incorrect brushing technique with too much pressure, inflammatory diseases, or anatomically thin mucosa. Such gum recession can be aesthetically bothersome and may also lead to hypersensitivity, an increased risk of caries, or periodontal problems. To restore the affected tissue, we at IMPLA·VIO in Berlin-Friedenau use modern procedures for gingival recession coverage. After careful diagnostics, our oral surgeons decide whether and how the gums can be reconstructed. The aim is to cover the tooth root again, strengthen the tissue, and increase its resilience.
Gingival Recession Coverage: Functional, Aesthetic, and Individually tailored
Various techniques are available for recession treatment. A connective tissue graft (CTG) is often taken from the palate and placed in the affected area. Alternatively, xenogeneic (animal-derived) substitute materials can be used to build up the gums in a targeted manner. Microsurgical techniques allow the graft to be positioned precisely, offering good healing prospects and stable long-term results.
